Follow the Fiddlers Down Calhoun Street
Our 2015 Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber Leadership class project is a series of kid-friendly fiddler crab sculptures placed at various locations on Calhoun Street in Historic Downtown Bluffton. With two storyboards to guide the kids and their parents to both find and learn about the crabs, the project is a way to create awareness of the importance of the May River eco system to Bluffton and the Lowcountry.

Fiddler Crab Statues
The artist, Susie Chisholm, first had to design the casting mold by making a form:
Susie used a real crab to design the model
They turned out well!
The crabs are scattered all over Historic Downtown Bluffton, starting with the storyboard signs.
I was glad when the project was finally finished!
My son, AJ, pulled out his old watercolors and painted a fiddler crab for me.
